_ I am an Integrative Counsellor. I provide counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment for people to talk, think, feel and explore. My practice focuses on the relationship that is established with clients. I mainly apply 3 theoretical models of counselling: Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Integrative in order to meet individual client needs. With both adults and children, I offer clients an opportunity to work creatively with art materials and therapeutic play.
Person-Centred Counselling Person-Centred counselling provides the necessary core conditions e.g. providing empathy, being genuine, and providing unconditional positive regard. This type of counselling focuses on the quality of the relationship between client and counsellor. The therapeutic relationship between the client and counsellor will allow the client to activate his/her own self-healing tendencies. This type of counselling often helps clients find the freedom and power to change themselves.
Psychodynamic Counselling Psychodynamic counselling involves looking at unconscious processes and bringing them into consciouness/awareness. It can help clients understand how and why they feel the way they do by examining past experiences (e.g. childhood) that are carried with us to the present day.
Integrative counselling Integrative counselling draws on all the main counselling types – the individual combination will be different for each client’s needs.
